Beneath the surface
Through the medium of Hanji relief, the artist utilizes sculptural elements and principles to express thoughts, emotions, and feelings of life. Through a process of unconscious repetition and acceptance, she utilizes the psychological properties of the sculptural elements to aid in inner transformation. Each piece is created with an iterative approach that leads to the integration of excluded emotions. She explores the process of capturing and fusing the duality between presence and absence.

_"The existence of the nonexistent"
Hanji is a medium that seems to be existent and nonexistent at the same time because of its light and partly transparent qualities. However, more than anything, its continuous position within Korean cultural history makes Hanji a material that is omnipresent and yet rarely noticed in the Korean way of life. Making the repressed feelings visible in the Hanji sculpture reflects Seon’s will to encounter her inner self, which ultimately leads to a healing process.
